Seven UK brands sell calcium alpha-ketoglutarate (Ca-AKG) as capsules, and their labels differ in four ways that matter more than the front of the pack: the dose per serving (800mg, 1000mg or 1100mg in two capsules, or 500mg capsules with no serving defined), whether the label gives only the Ca-AKG weight or also breaks out the alpha-ketoglutarate and calcium, whether a purity figure and a certificate of analysis are given, and what else is in the capsule. Three of the seven state a purity percentage on the page. Four link a certificate of analysis; one supplies it on request; two show none. Ca-AKG is the calcium salt of alpha-ketoglutaric acid, an intermediate in the Krebs cycle; that is the chemistry, and this article makes no claim beyond it. Here are the seven UK Ca-AKG products that come up most often, compared on their labels.

What the seven labels say
Five of the seven label two capsules as a serving: 1000mg at Verve, Naturecan, Longevity Box and Youth & Earth, 1100mg at Time Health. DoNotAge labels an 800mg daily serving from 400mg capsules, and Vitality Pro defines no serving, just 500mg capsules and a direction of two to four a day. Three brands break out what the salt provides: Naturecan gives the alpha-ketoglutaric acid (753mg) and the calcium (205mg), Time Health and Youth & Earth the calcium only (220mg and 200mg); the other four, Verve among them, state the Ca-AKG weight and nothing more. Three state a purity figure on the page, from 98% to over 99%; Verve puts the figure on the batch certificate, supplied on request; Naturecan, Youth & Earth and DoNotAge state none. Four link a certificate of analysis; Verve supplies one on request; Time Health and DoNotAge show none. Four capsules list only a cellulose shell and Time Health only pullulan; Vitality Pro adds microcrystalline cellulose and rice concentrate; DoNotAge lists no ingredients at all. Three give a storage line and four say nothing.
The products in detail
Verve Ca-AKG 1000mg Capsules
Verve Ca-AKG is the product we make. The label is two lines: 1000mg of calcium alpha-ketoglutarate per two-capsule serving, 500mg a capsule, in a plant cellulose shell. Sixty capsules, 30 servings, two capsules once a day with water, in the morning. The page says the product contributes calcium; account for it if you already take a calcium supplement. Every batch is tested for purity, and the certificate of analysis for your batch, with the purity figure on it, is available on request from hello@vavaverve.com. The gaps: the label gives the Ca-AKG weight only, where three competitors break out the calcium; no storage line (three give one); and the certificate is on request rather than linked (four link one). £29.99 one-off (£1.00 a serving), £17.99 a month on subscription (60p) or £48.24 a quarter for three packs (54p). It is also in the Core Renewal Stack with NMN 1000mg, TMG 1500mg, quercetin with fisetin, and spermidine. Who it suits: anyone who wants a 1000mg serving with nothing else in the capsule and a certificate they can ask for.
Time Health Ca-AKG
The highest labelled serving here: two capsules typically contain 1100mg of Ca-AKG at 98% purity, providing 220mg of calcium. Sixty capsules at two a day is 30 servings; the page states no serving count. The shell is pullulan from tapioca rather than the HPMC most of the table uses, and the page says no synthetic bulking or anti-caking agents. The same product is sold as a powder, labelled 98.0% pure, two rounded scoops to 1100mg; the powder pack size is not stated. Testing is "manufactured in compliance with high quality GMP standards", with no third-party wording and no certificate. No storage advice. The footer gives an address in Uckfield, East Sussex. Who it suits: anyone who wants the largest labelled serving, a stated purity figure, or a powder.
Naturecan UK Calcium Alpha-Ketoglutarate
The most detailed nutrition panel of the seven. Per two-capsule daily serving: 1000mg of calcium alpha-ketoglutarate, of which 753mg is alpha-ketoglutaric acid, and 205mg of calcium (26% NRV). The ingredient list is Ca-AKG and an HPMC capsule. There is no purity percentage, but the page links a certificate of analysis and says the product is third-party tested at every stage of production. Sixty, 120 and 180 capsule packs are sold; one line on the page still says "30 servings per pack". No storage advice. The site trades as Naturecan UK and says its products are made in GMP-certified facilities in Europe. Who it suits: anyone who wants the acid and calcium printed on the label and a certificate to read before buying.
Longevity Box Pure Calcium Alpha-Ketoglutarate
Capsules, despite the word "powder" in the page address. Two capsules a day give 1000mg of Ca-AKG, 30 servings a pack; the capsule count is not stated. The ingredient list is Ca-AKG and a vegetable cellulose (HPMC) capsule, and the brand says free from binders, fillers, preservatives and additives. Every batch is said to exceed 99% purity and is tested by an independent UK laboratory, and the latest certificate is linked on the page: batch 63869, tested in August 2026. Older documents are linked too. The brand guarantees potency for 700 days. Storage is a cool, dry, airtight, dark place. Three-pack and six-pack options are sold. Longevity Box is in Poole. Who it suits: anyone who wants to read this batch's certificate before buying, with a stated purity figure to go with it.
Youth & Earth Calcium Alpha Keto-Glutarate 500mg
Sixty capsules of 500mg, two capsules a serving, so 1000mg of Ca-AKG providing 200mg of calcium (25% NRV). The ingredient list is Ca-AKG and a vegetable cellulose (HPMC) shell, with vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free stated. No purity figure is given. The brand says every product is third-party tested, and a certificate of analysis is linked under "Lab reports & awards". Directions are two capsules, with or without food, in the morning. Storage is away from high temperature and sunlight, in a closed container. The site trades as Youth & Earth UK Store and says its products are made in GMP facilities; this page gives no address. Listings also appear at Holland & Barrett and Healf. Who it suits: anyone who wants a 1000mg serving with the calcium stated and a certificate linked on the page.
Vitality Pro CaAKG
The only product here with no defined serving: 500mg per capsule, 120 or 240 capsules, and a direction of two to four a day. So a bottle of 120 is 60 days at two a day or 30 at four. It is also the only capsule with more than a shell in it: microcrystalline cellulose and rice concentrate sit alongside the Ca-AKG in an HPMC capsule. Testing is the most detailed on the page: every batch tested by ISO 17025-accredited laboratories, with certificates linked by batch and purity listed for each, 98.5% for the current batch (2600230, March 2026) and 90.7%, 98.1% and 100% for the three before it. Storage is a cool (20 to 25°C), dry place away from light. Manufactured in the UK, in Oxford and the North of England. Who it suits: anyone who wants to set their own daily amount from 500mg capsules and read the purity result for each batch.
DoNotAge Ca-AKG
Each capsule contains 400mg, the stated daily serving is 800mg, and the bottle is 60 or 366 capsules; the page does not say how many capsules make a serving. Testing is "third-party tested, batch by batch", with the product made to GMP and ISO 9001 standards, but no certificate is on the page and no purity figure is given. There is no ingredient list, so the shell is not stated; "no fillers, no additives" is the only wording. No storage advice, and the page does not say where the brand is based; it showed us US dollar pricing. Healf, a UK retailer, stocks it. Who it suits: anyone who wants a smaller 400mg capsule and a large pack, and will check the physical label for what the page leaves out.
Others you will see named
Supplement Place, a UK brand, sells Calcium AKG 500mg capsules through Holland & Barrett in 60, 120 and 240 packs, but its own website would not let our tools read the product page, so it is left out rather than guessed at. ProHealth Longevity is a US brand whose Calcium AKG capsules and powder are listed by Healf and Welzo; Renue by Science (CaAKG Liposomal, at Healf), Rejuvant, Codeage and Toniiq are also US brands we have not checked on a UK site. Purovitalis sells Calcium AKG tablets from the Netherlands through a UK retailer. Several UK sites sell alpha-ketoglutaric acid capsules, the free acid rather than the calcium salt, so a different compound. We found no Ca-AKG product at Charava, NMN Bio or Kiki Health, and none in Welzo's own Ultra Purity range.
How to compare Ca-AKG supplements
- Dose per serving, then per capsule. A serving here is 800mg, 1000mg or 1100mg from two capsules, and capsules run from 400mg (DoNotAge) to 550mg (Time Health, by arithmetic). Vitality Pro's label defines no serving, so the daily amount is whatever you take from 500mg capsules.
- Ca-AKG weight, or what it provides. Most labels give the weight of the calcium salt. Naturecan also states the alpha-ketoglutaric acid (753mg in 1000mg) and the calcium (205mg); Time Health and Youth & Earth state the calcium (220mg and 200mg). If you already take calcium, those are the labels you can add up.
- Is a purity figure stated? Longevity Box (over 99%), Vitality Pro (98.5%) and Time Health (98%) give one on the page. Verve's is on the batch certificate, available on request. Naturecan, Youth & Earth and DoNotAge give none. Where a brand lists results by batch, read every batch, not just the headline.
- Is a certificate of analysis available, and how? Longevity Box, Vitality Pro, Naturecan and Youth & Earth link one on the page. Verve supplies the certificate for your batch on request. Time Health and DoNotAge show none.
- What else is in the capsule. Four list only a cellulose shell (HPMC, vegetable cellulose and plant cellulose are the same family) and Time Health only pullulan. Vitality Pro adds microcrystalline cellulose and rice concentrate. DoNotAge lists nothing, which is not the same as nothing being there.
- Storage. Longevity Box, Youth & Earth and Vitality Pro give a line; Verve, Time Health, Naturecan and DoNotAge do not.
- Price the plan you will actually be on. One-off, monthly and quarterly plans differ. Check each brand's site for today's price; we have not compared prices in this article.

How much Ca-AKG per day do UK brands put in a serving?
Most labels say 1000mg from two capsules: Verve, Naturecan, Longevity Box and Youth & Earth. Time Health labels 1100mg from two capsules. DoNotAge labels an 800mg daily serving from 400mg capsules. Vitality Pro defines no serving and directs two to four 500mg capsules a day, so 1000mg to 2000mg. This is what the labels say, not a recommendation.
Which UK Ca-AKG products publish a certificate of analysis?
Four link one on the product page. Longevity Box links the certificate for batch 63869, tested in August 2026. Vitality Pro links certificates for each batch, with the purity result beside each. Naturecan UK and Youth & Earth each link one. Verve supplies the certificate for your batch, with the purity figure, on request from hello@vavaverve.com. Time Health and DoNotAge show none on the page.
How much calcium is in a Ca-AKG capsule?
Only where the label says. Naturecan states 205mg of calcium (26% NRV) per 1000mg of Ca-AKG, Time Health 220mg per 1100mg, and Youth & Earth 200mg (25% NRV) per 1000mg. Verve, Longevity Box, Vitality Pro and DoNotAge state the Ca-AKG weight only. Verve's page does say the product contributes calcium and to factor it in if you already take a calcium supplement.
What is the difference between Ca-AKG and AKG?
AKG is alpha-ketoglutarate, the anion of alpha-ketoglutaric acid. Ca-AKG is its calcium salt, so a labelled weight of Ca-AKG includes the calcium. Naturecan's label shows the split: 1000mg of calcium alpha-ketoglutarate, of which 753mg is alpha-ketoglutaric acid, with 205mg of calcium. A few UK sites sell alpha-ketoglutaric acid capsules, the free acid rather than the salt. That is the chemistry; this article makes no claim about either.
Does Verve Ca-AKG contain anything other than Ca-AKG?
No. The label lists calcium alpha-ketoglutarate, 1000mg per two-capsule serving, and a plant cellulose capsule shell: no rice flour, no anti-caking agent, no blend. Every batch is tested for purity, and the certificate for your batch, with the purity figure, is available on request from hello@vavaverve.com. The label does not break out the alpha-ketoglutarate or calcium, which three competitors do.
