Updated November 2026. The GB claim and six "for women" creatine labels checked on 5 and 6 November 2026, on each brand's own website. Verve makes creatine stick packs, covered near the end, so read the table before you read our view.

In the UK there is no separate creatine for women. The authorised GB health claim for high intensity exercise is the same for women and men: "Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise." It applies to adults performing high intensity exercise, and the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3g of creatine. The register does not split adults into women and men, so a women's product carries the same claim and conditions as any other. What differs on the "for women" products we read is the rest of the label: the dose, added vitamins, minerals or electrolytes, the flavour and the format. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, take medication, or have a kidney or other medical condition, check with your doctor first.

The short answer

  • Same claim for women and men: adults performing high intensity exercise, with a daily intake of 3g of creatine.
  • The 3g is creatine, not powder: 3.4g of creatine monohydrate gives 3g of creatine. 5g gives about 4.4g.
  • "For women" changes the label, not the claim: dose, added ingredients, flavour and format.
  • Check: creatine per daily serving, every other ingredient and its amount, and batch testing.
  • From Verve: Verve Creatine Monohydrate, 5g of creatine monohydrate per stick, nothing added, independently tested three times per batch.
  • Pregnant, breastfeeding or on medication, including the pill: ask your doctor or pharmacist first.

What the GB claim covers

The register's creatine entry for exercise says the consumer must be told that "the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3g of creatine", and that the claim may be used only for foods targeting adults performing high intensity exercise. It names adults, not women or men, and sets one daily amount for all of them. "For women" on a pack describes who the brand is selling to. It does not change what the label may say. Our creatine monohydrate guide explains what creatine is.

What "creatine for women" products change on the label

We read six products sold as creatine for women in the UK. Label facts only: no prices and no brand claims.

Product Format, daily serving Creatine per day Added ingredients Testing stated on the page
Zooki Creatine+ for Women Sachet, one a day 5g creatine monohydrate (4.4g creatine) Zinc, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 (no amounts on the page); summer fruits flavour, steviol glycosides Creatine independently tested at 99.9% purity; BRCGS AA facility
Unfabled Creatine Superblend Powder, 9g 5g creatine monohydrate (4.4g creatine) Coconut water powder, magnesium, sodium, potassium, vitamin C, biotin, vegan collagen amino acid complex (no amounts); steviol glycosides GMP standard badge
Free Soul HydraCreatine Powder, 9.5g 5g creatine monohydrate (4.4g creatine) Vitamin C 80mg, pink salt 510mg, electrolytes (no amounts); strawberry and mango flavour None stated
Women's Best Creatine Powder Powder, 3.4g scoop 3.4g creatine monohydrate, of which 3.0g creatine None when unflavoured; four flavours also sold Creapure creatine; each batch tested
Women's Best Creatine Capsules Capsules, five a day 3,409mg creatine monohydrate, of which 3,000mg creatine Capsule shell only Creapure, minimum 99.99% purity; each batch tested
Equi London Creatine Edition Capsules, four a day 2,800mg creatine monohydrate (2.5g creatine) Brown rice flour, capsule shell Tested at specialist laboratories; GMP facility
Verve Creatine Monohydrate (not sold as a women's product) Stick, one a day 5g creatine monohydrate (4.4g creatine) None; unflavoured Three independent laboratory tests per batch; certificates on request

Bracketed figures are our conversion at 88% creatine by weight, rounded.

  • Dose. Three give 5g of creatine monohydrate a day. Women's Best gives 3.4g, which its label states as 3.0g of creatine: the claim's condition exactly. Equi gives about 2.5g of creatine, below it.
  • Added ingredients and flavour. Zooki, Unfabled and Free Soul add vitamins, minerals or electrolytes, mostly with no amounts, and a flavour. The capsules and Verve's stick are unflavoured.
  • Format. Sachets and sticks give the same amount every time. Capsules need four or five a day. Loose powder lets you change the amount, or get it wrong.

What to check on any creatine label

  • Creatine per daily serving. Take the grams of creatine monohydrate in a day's serving and convert at 88%, or read the "of which creatine" line if there is one. For capsules, multiply by the number in a serving. The 3g condition is a daily figure, the same for women and men.
  • Other ingredients, with amounts. Look for the mg or μg and %NRV of any added vitamin or mineral, and add it to anything else you take. The NHS says not to take more than 10mg of vitamin B6 a day in supplements unless advised to by a doctor. Our guide to what NRV means on a label explains the column.
  • Salt. Electrolyte blends add sodium, often as salt: relevant on a low-salt diet.
  • Testing. Ask whether each batch is tested by an independent laboratory, and for your batch certificate. A certificate is not anti-doping screening. Our guide to choosing a creatine product covers what it should show.
  • Warnings. Read who the pack says should not take it. This varied more than anything else we read.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and medicines

There is no NHS page on creatine supplements, and the NHS page on supplements in pregnancy does not mention creatine. The claim says nothing about pregnancy. The product pages differ:

  • Equi London: "Not suitable for pregnant/breastfeeding women."
  • Unfabled: "Not recommended for children, or for people who are pregnant or lactating."
  • Zooki: anyone pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a health professional first.
  • Women's Best and Free Soul: no pregnancy or breastfeeding line on the pages we read.
  • Verve: "If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition, check with your doctor first."

A page that says nothing is not telling you it is fine. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to your GP or midwife first.

Verve Creatine Monohydrate stick packs

Verve's creatine is not made or sold as a women's product. The label is the same for everyone.

  • Per stick: 5g of creatine monohydrate, about 4.4g of creatine. The label has one row: creatine monohydrate, 5g, NRV "-". One stick a day, no loading phase.
  • Other ingredients: none. Unflavoured, no fillers, no sweeteners. 99.9% pure, 200 mesh.
  • Testing: every batch is tested three times by independent laboratories before it ships. The three certificates for your batch are available on request from hello@vavaverve.com. It is not in a named anti-doping testing programme.
  • Pack: 28 sticks, as two sealed packs of 14. From your second order, a recyclable sleeve replaces the box.

Where it is behind: no flavoured version, no added vitamins or minerals if you want them in the same drink, and no named creatine raw material on the page, as Women's Best has. Sticks also use more packaging per serving than a tub.

Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3g of creatine, and the claim applies to adults performing high intensity exercise. If you have a kidney condition, check with your doctor before use. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition, check with your doctor first. Not suitable for children. Keep out of reach of children. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. The full label is on the Creatine Monohydrate 28 stick pack page.

Creatine for women: your questions

Does creatine make you bloated or gain weight?

There is no authorised health claim about creatine and body weight, or about feeling bloated, in either direction. A label cannot answer this for you. If you notice a change you are unsure about, speak to your GP or a registered dietitian.

Is creatine safe during pregnancy?

The claim is for adults performing high intensity exercise and says nothing about pregnancy. The NHS pregnancy supplements page does not mention creatine, and product pages differ. Speak to your GP or midwife before you start.

Do women need a different dose of creatine?

Not under the claim. The condition is 3g of creatine a day for every adult it covers, women and men alike: about 3.4g of creatine monohydrate. Some women's products give less, so check the creatine figure, not the name on the pack.

Does creatine affect the pill or hormones?

There is no authorised claim linking creatine to hormones, the contraceptive pill or HRT, and no creatine label covers taking it alongside them. The pill and HRT are medicines, so ask a pharmacist before you add creatine, and take the pack with you.

Do I need a creatine made for women?

No. It is the same compound, under the same claim and the same 3g condition. Choose on the label: creatine per day, what else is in it, a format you will use, and batch testing.

How we checked

Claim wording and conditions: retained Regulation (EU) No 432/2012 on legislation.gov.uk, as listed in the Great Britain nutrition and health claims register. NHS: the pregnancy supplements and vitamin B pages on nhs.uk. Labels: zooki.com, unfabled.co, freesoul.com, uk.womensbest.com and equilondon.com. Verve: its 28 stick pack page. All checked on 5 and 6 November 2026. Prices are deliberately not compared, and other brands' claims are not repeated. Only health claims authorised in Great Britain are used. Verve makes the creatine stick packs in this guide. The mention of other brands is for comparison only. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
