About Huel Daily Greens

Huel, founded in 2015 by Julian Hearn, is a UK-based company specialising in nutritionally complete foods and supplements.

The brand aims to provide convenient, affordable, and sustainable food options that contain all the proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals that the body needs. Huel's product range includes meal replacement powders, ready-to-drink meals, bars, and supplements, emphasising environmental sustainability and high nutritional value in their development and production.

Just recently, Huel launched its “Daily Greens” product; is a nutrient-rich supplement designed to complement a balanced diet by providing an easy way to increase your intake of greens and fruits. It contains a blend of 91 ingredients such as antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that support overall health.

Athletic Greens Ingredients & Dosages

Before we delve into Huel, let's first look at AG1 and its potential contributions to your diet.

AG1's blend is a blend of diverse nutrients, specifically designed to offer a rounded approach to your health and well-being.

It includes a spectrum of plant-based ingredients, highlighted by superfoods such as spirulina and chlorella, known for their rich nutrient profiles and antioxidant capabilities.

AG1 also incorporates staples like whey protein and apple powder to bolster its macronutrient offering.

However, like many other Greens powders, AG1 relies on proprietary blends.

This strategy, while common in the supplement industry to safeguard their formula, hides the precise amounts of each ingredient, making it challenging for you to determine the exact amount of each ingredient.

This means, that while you can see the macronutrient & some of the micronutrient contents of the blend in the screenshot below, you can’t see how much of each ingredient is in the blend. For example, you don’t know how much Ashwagandha, Ginseng, or Reishi and Shiitake mushrooms are present in the blend, which isn’t ideal.

That being said the nutritional label discloses a comprehensive list of vitamins and minerals, with several meeting or exceeding the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA). It is enriched with essential vitamins like A, C, E, and an almost full suite of B vitamins, with just pantothenic acid under 100% RDA.

Notably, it also does not include Vitamin D.

Additionally, AG1 is fortified with unique ingredients such as adaptogens, probiotics, and digestive enzymes, further enhancing its wellness profile.

Adaptogens such as ashwagandha and rhodiola are included for their stress-relief properties, while probiotic strains like Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus support gut health.

But again, exact dosages are not disclosed which is a little problematic when it comes to consumer choice.

Huel Daily Greens Ingredients Dosages

Having explored AG1's comprehensive approach to supplementing daily nutrition, let's turn our attention to Huel.

Huel Daily Greens presents a variety of proprietary blends (meaning again, we don’t know the exact amounts of each ingredient) that cater to different nutritional needs and preferences:

1. Plant-Based Protein and Superfood Blend:

This blend is aimed at providing a rich source of proteins and superfoods. It includes organic pea and mung bean proteins for muscle repair and growth, alongside seeds like flaxseed and chia for fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, supporting digestion and heart health.

The blend is promising for its nutritional diversity but lacks specific dosage information due to its proprietary nature.

Organic Antioxidant Greens Blend:

Featuring potent greens and vegetables like organic chlorella, spirulina, and various leafy greens, this blend focuses on detoxification and boosting vitality with its rich antioxidant properties.

Additional unique ingredients such as organic nettle and green tea leaf extract offer further health-promoting benefits. However, the exact amounts of these ingredients are undisclosed, making it difficult to assess their full potential impact.

Organic Superfruit Blend:

Aimed at delivering a vitamin and antioxidant boost, this blend includes a variety of berries and fruits known for their health benefits. The inclusion of organic tomato and coconut nectar adds to the phytonutrient profile of this blend. Yet, the lack of detailed dosage information may affect the anticipated antioxidant benefits.

Organic Adaptogen and Super Mushroom Complex

This complex is designed to support the body's stress response and immune system with adaptogens like ashwagandha root and rhodiola extract, and immune-supportive super mushrooms such as reishi and cordyceps.

The effectiveness of these ingredients is highly dose-dependent, and the proprietary blend format obscures the specific quantities provided.

Organic Botanical Blend:

Comprising a selection of herbs and roots with a history of health benefits, this blend includes ingredients like organic cinnamon bark for blood sugar control and organic dandelion root for liver support.

The potential health benefits are tied to specific dosages, which are not provided in the proprietary blend.

 1. Probiotics

Incorporating strains such as Bacillus coagulans and Bifidobacterium bifidum for gut health, the probiotic content aims to support digestive and immune function.

However, the doses seem to be under what is considered ideal, potentially limiting their effectiveness.

Bifidobacterium Bifidum 100B: 125 million CFU per serving. However, an ideal dose is 1-6 billion.

Bacillus Coagulans MTCC 5856: 25 Million Spores/CFU per serving. A recommended dose is 1-2 billion spores/CFU.

2. Other Ingredients:

Including natural flavours, sunflower lecithin, guar gum, and organic stevia leaf extract, these ingredients are added for taste, texture, and stability. They are common in health supplements and generally well-tolerated.

AG1 vs Huel Ingredients: Verdict

AG1 and Huel both have quite a few similarities:

  1. Most vitamins are well dosed, with Huel just losing out on some B vitamins like Biotin, Thiamine, and Riboflavin.
  2. They both use proprietary blends, so they don’t disclose the exact amounts of their ingredients.
  3. They both contain a high number of ingredients; AG1 Contains 75, while Huel Daily Greens has 91.

Overall, we must say it’s pretty close. The main difference is that AG1 has better B vitamin dosing, while Huel has a few more ingredients.

However, given that both companies use proprietary blends, it’s difficult to determine the efficacy of both formulas.

AG1 vs Huel: Pricing
