Ghost Greens Review: Is It Any Good?

Welcome to our in-depth review of Ghost Greens, a product that has been making waves on Instagram that’s available both in the US and UK. In this article, we'll assess the product based on taste, ingredients and their benefits, doses, transparency, and real user experiences. Our aim is to merge objective analysis with real-world feedback, providing a comprehensive look at what Ghost Greens has to offer. With that being said, let’s dive in!

About Ghost Greens

Ghost Greens is a greens supplement crafted by Ghost, co-founded by Ryan Hughes and Daniel Lourenco in 2016, designed for the average person and not just bodybuilders.
The product’s main focus is gut health as it’s packed with probiotics, digestive enzymes, and various superfoods. But we’ll talk more about that later on.
One thing that makes this product interesting is that for every tub sold, a tree is planted, reflecting the company's commitment to environmental impact.

Ingredients, Dosages, and Benefits

Ghost Greens is designed to be a nutritional powerhouse, combining a variety of greens and reds, each chosen for their specific health benefits. The greens often serve as a concentrated source of nutrients.

Here are some of the key ingredients:

  • Chlorella is a type of algae that's a complete protein and rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can support heart health.
  • Matcha, a form of green tea, is celebrated for its high levels of antioxidants and has been linked to increased metabolism and a host of other benefits due to its catechins content.
  • Spirulina, another algae included in Ghost Greens, is a favorite in the world of superfoods for its impressive profile of vitamins B1, B2, B3, copper, and iron. It's also another complete protein source and contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an important fatty acid with anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Goji berries add to the mix with their rich vitamin C content, believed to support immune function, skin health, and eyesight. They're also a good source of fiber, which can help with digestive health.

One thing we noticed looking at the nutrition facts is that Ghost Greens is pretty transparent on most of their ingredients.

It contains 2 main blends which consist of further blends.

  1. Ghost Fruits & Vegetables (Consisting of super greens, antioxidant blend, SPECTRA ™  total ORAC blend)
  2. Ghost Gut Health (Consisting of Inulin, Ghost Probiotic, BioCore Optimum Complete)

Of the blends, almost all of the ingredients and their dosages are disclosed, besides the  Spectra ™ total orac blend, which only has a total weight of 100mg anyway. So Ghost Greens definitely wins points in terms of transparency, but we’ll talk about that more later on anyway.

Let’s take a look at some of the key ingredients in each and see what they can do for you:

The Super Greens sub-blend

The 'Super Greens' sub-blend is quite the garden variety, featuring staples like kale and exotic picks like organic matcha, which is touted for its high concentration of catechins, powerful antioxidants that could help in neutralising harmful free radicals.

Spirulina and chlorella are algae that bring to the table not just vitamins and minerals, but also protein, adding to the product's nutritional diversity.

The dosing of the individual ingredients look decent too, there are only a few alternatives on the market that offer higher doses, like Verve V80; for example, it includes double the dose of Alfafa, Broccoli, and a higher dose of Spirulina among many other ingredients.

Antioxidants Reds

In the 'Antioxidant Reds' section, we find fruits like jabuticaba and camu camu, which are less mainstream but celebrated for their vitamin C content, potentially supporting immune function. The mention of an 'Organic Goji Berry' is interesting, as these berries have a reputation in traditional medicine for supporting vitality.

'Spectra ™  Total ORAC Blend'

Moving on to the 'Spectra ™  Total ORAC Blend', while the specifics of the blend are under wraps, the inclusion of such a mix aims to provide a spectrum of polyphenols and bioactive compounds. Although the exact benefits of this blend are not clear due to its proprietary nature, the concept is to offer a comprehensive range of antioxidants.

While transparency is commendable, especially with the clarity around the 'Super Greens' and 'Antioxidant Reds', the effectiveness of the total Spectra ™  ORAC blend might be harder to gauge. It's one of those things where you might appreciate the intent, but still, you'd like to see a bit more detail—like a peek behind the curtain to know exactly what you're getting.

Ghost Gut Health

For gut health, inulin—a prebiotic fiber—sets the stage for a gut-friendly environment, which is a smart move. The 'Ghost Probiotic' blend includes strains like L. acidophilus and B. lactis, commonly used for their potential to balance the gut microbiome.

BioCore Optimum Complete finishes off the formula by adding enzymes that help break down a variety of nutrients, ensuring that what's consumed is actually put to use by the body.

Pricing

Priced at $44.99 in the US for a 30-serving tub, Ghost Greens equates to roughly $1.50 per serving. The company offers discounts for subscriptions and bulk purchases, so always keep an eye out for that.

In the UK, Ghost Greens is priced at £36.

So it’s pretty affordable, but it’s also important to consider that it only contains 19 ingredients, which is much fewer than alternatives like Verve V80, which contains 80… i.e. more than 4x the ingredients, for around 2x the price.

Ghost Greens Review: Pros and Cons

To give you an overview of what we’ve discussed so far, here’s a pros and cons list:

Pros:

  • The ingredients are excellent choices to improve gut health and digestion
  • Great flavour variety
  • The entry pricing is low
  • Compared to most of the market, it excels in transparency.

Cons:

  • Only contains 19 ingredients
  • There is room for improvement in terms of value for money
  • Some individual ingredients could be dosed higher
  • Doesn’t list micronutrient content, and due to low ingredients might be underdosed (eg: Vitamins, Minerals, etc.)

Ghost Greens Review: Taste & User Experiences

Taste is a highlight of Ghost Greens, with flavours like Iced Tea Lemonade, Guava Berry, and Lime receiving positive feedback for both taste and mixability.

User experiences largely commend the product for its affordability and the noticeable impact on their digestive health.

“The aftertaste was definitely greens. But the taste at 1st was decent, I dunno if I tasted any lemon or iced tea, but they masked the greens well.”

— A reddit user

There are also more people raving about the taste on Amazon, and a very few people who absolutely despise the taste.

As you can see above, there’s also one review that mentions their stomach is too sensitive for Ghost Greens. However, this isn’t the case for most users.

Overall though, the customer feedback on Amazon is pretty good as you can see.

Ghost Greens Review: Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions about Ghost Greens.

What does GHOST Greens do for you?

GHOST Greens is formulated with a comprehensive mix of greens, reds, antioxidants, and digestive enzymes to support overall wellness. By providing a rich source of various nutrients, it helps bolster the immune system, enhances nutrient absorption, and can contribute to a healthier digestion process. It’s a convenient way to incorporate additional health-supporting compounds into your daily diet, especially for those with a fast-paced lifestyle.

Are There Any Other Transparent Greens Powders?

Certainly! Verve V80 stands out as an exceptional choice for a transparent greens powder. It offers full disclosure of its nutrient-dense formula, featuring 80 natural ingredients. Not only does it champion transparency, but it also delivers a wide spectrum of health benefits backed by scientific research. The infusion with real fruit also means that it tastes better than many competitors, addressing one of the common complaints about greens drinks.

When should I take GHOST Greens?

GHOST Greens can be taken at any point during the day that suits your routine. Many users find it beneficial to take it in the morning, kick-starting their day with vital nutrients. Alternatively, incorporating it after a meal could aid with digestion due to its enzyme content. The key is consistency and aligning its consumption with your lifestyle for optimal benefits.

Can Ghost Greens help you lose weight?

While Ghost Greens isn't specifically a weight loss product, it supports weight management by promoting good digestive health and potentially reducing cravings through nutrient satisfaction. It's a healthy addition to a balanced diet and, when used alongside a calorie-controlled eating plan and regular exercise, might indirectly support your weight loss goals by maintaining overall health and well-being. However, the key factor for weight loss is a caloric deficit, and it doesn’t help you achieve that directly.

Final Verdict

Our overall rating for Ghost Greens is 3.5 out of 5.

It stands out for its natural ingredients and positive impact on digestion and nutrient absorption.

Yet, in terms of a direct ‘value for money’ perspective, it could be improved when compared to top alternatives like Verve V80. For example, Ghost Greens only contains 19 ingredients vs Verve V80’s 80, which also has over 200+ health benefits.

It also lacks third-party verification and comprehensive nutrient profiles are areas for improvement.

For example, an informed sports accreditation would be beneficial.
