Lucy Garnall’s review on the Sun sums it up quite nicely:
“I’ll be honest: The Rheal Clean Greens powder tasted awful. And although I knew it was doing me the world of good thanks to the list of ingredients (Baobab Powder, Barley Grass Powder, Chlorella Powder, Moringa Powder, Pineapple Powder, Wheatgrass Powder, Spirulina Powder), it really wasn’t kind to my taste buds.
However, once I mixed it into a smoothie, it was completely palatable.”
Of course, you can always mix it into a smoothie, that’s for sure.
But at the same time, it somewhat defeats the convenience benefit if you’re making it yourself, or it’s a huge added cost since most smoothies often cost around £3… which adds up to £90 per month.
You should always take reviews for what they are, i.e. anecdotal experiences… because some people don’t leave a review, others do, and there are a lot of variables like placebos, bias, etc.
This is why we look at the science first as well.
That being said, the reviews are positive overall with an average rating of 4.2 to 4.5 on most platforms.
The main applauses:
- Higher energy levels
- Clearer Skin
- Improved body and mind
The energy level increase is a natural effect of all the vitamins and minerals it contains, so we can be pretty sure that this is not just a placebo.
Some of the vitamins that increase energy are:
- Vitamin B12: Essential for energy production in the body, B12 is vital for converting the food we eat into energy.
- Vitamin C: Known for its role in the immune system, Vitamin C is also important in reducing tiredness and fatigue.
- B Vitamins: Other B vitamins like B6 and B3 (niacin) also contribute to the body's energy production processes.
The main complaints:
- Taste
- Not actually gluten-free
- Made some people sick
The taste point we already discussed, but it’s important to mention that it’s one of the main complaints people had.
The next one is that according to some Amazon reviewers, it’s not actually gluten-free, due to the wheat grass and barley grass.
However, independently sourced ingredients should be naturally gluten-free.
Rheal also clarifies this on their website:
“Wheatgrass, barley grass, and their juices are naturally gluten-free. They are derived from the grasses of each plant, which is separate from the grain and so both are naturally free from gluten. We also independently test our Wheatgrass and Barley Grass to ensure there has been no cross-contamination too. So our blends are safe for those with gluten intolerance or Coeliac Disease (just like our Founder, Charlotte).”
That being said, we thought it was worth a mention, although we do know that the products are gluten-free.
A few other reviews have also mentioned that the product is making them feel sick, so we’d recommend taking a peak at the ingredients and seeing whether you have any intolerance toward them.

Rheal Clean Greens Pricing:
Rheal Clean Greens cost £25 for a 150g pack, which is 30x 5g servings. The pricing is slightly lower than most competitors, however, it includes much fewer ingredients (7), and also has a smaller serving size than many competitors such as Verve V80.
Final Verdict and Best Alternative
Overall, Rheal Clean Greens is a solid choice. With organic ingredients, excellent anecdotal experiences, and a cool story, Rheal has positioned itself as a solid contender in the greens drink market.

But where could it improve?
- Taste as mentioned by the reviews
- Serving size (only 5g)
- Ingredient diversity - Only 7 ingredients
- Ingredient transparency: It would be great for consumers to know how much of each ingredient they’re consuming.
Additionally, it’s not for everyone like many of the reviews mentioned.
